Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I get a Make Waves sticker?
I got my Make Waves sticker from REI. Maybe one day I will have a custom Make Waves Momma sticker but for now, here is a link to the sticker that started it all for me :)
Who took all of the incredible pictures of you and Waverly that you use on your website?
The amazingly talented Kyla Berry took all the photos used for my website. I highly suggest checking out her work. She came right to my home and made me feel so comfortable as she photographed Waverly and I on our first day home from the hospital.
* The photos used on my blog are taken by me unless otherwise noted.
Why did you choose embryo donation rather than finding a sperm donor?
I love that sperm donation is an option for families. I know it is the right path for many. I did look into finding a sperm donor at first but in the end decided it wasn’t for me.
Since I was looking for ways to become a mom on my own, having a biological baby was less important to me so I started looking into other options and that is how I found embryo donation.
I loved that with embryo donation I was able to meet with the couple and their children (Waverly’s biological siblings!). I loved that we determined the level of interaction we wanted in each other’s life.
Also, as a breast cancer survivor, being able to skip the process of egg retrieval to then create embryos meant less time off my preventative medications. The combination of all of this made embryo adoption feel like the right option for me.
Which company did you use for your embryo adoption?
I chose to work with Embryo Connections. They were one of the only embryo donation/adoption companies I found that were “inclusive of all family types, race, religion, sexual orientation, and lifestyles”. They truly are focused on finding the best match for each embryo and family. They were and continue to be amazing to work with starting with their superb matchmaking skills and now following up with options for support groups centered on talking with other families who have had children through embryo adoption.
